FFKM
Perfluoroelastomer
Seals made from FFKM (perfluoroelastomer) offer exceptional performance and durability in a wide range of applications. FFKM seals possess an unparalleled resistance to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and aggressive fluids, making them an ideal choice for demanding environments. These seals exhibit excellent compression set resistance, maintaining their shape and effectiveness over extended periods of use. Furthermore, FFKM seals exhibit low gas permeability, ensuring a high level of sealing integrity even in the presence of volatile gases. With their superior resilience and reliability, FFKM seals provide a vital solution for industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, aerospace, and automotive, where maintaining optimal performance in harsh conditions is paramount.
History of FFKM:
FFKM was made in a time when there was a need for a material to have the elasticity and flexibility of FKM, as well as the great chemical resistance of PTFE. When FFKM was first introduced it was primarily used for space travel applications and chemical processing. Like a lot of new products, FFKM managed to find a place in many other industries as people started to learn more about it. Now FFKM will be commonly found in the Automotive and Aerospace industries.
Features and Benefits:
FFKM has an incredible resistance to fluids and gasses that could be very aggressive and cause deterioration of the seal. Standard compounds of FFKM already have an excellent temperature range of -10°C up to +260°C, with special compounds being able to reach lows of -55°C and highs of 330°C.
As FFKM has a brilliant resistance to most chemicals, such as, fuels, alcohols, acids, alkalines and hot water, it makes it a great material to be used in the Chemical industry. Because of the temperature range of FFKM, and all of its different compounds, it makes it a brilliant material to be used in the Aerospace industry especially in jet engines.
Summary:
Wide temperature range (-55°C to +330°C)
Brilliant resistance to chemicals
Brilliant resistance to weather and ozone
Brilliant resistance to liquid and gas permeation
Non-flammable while in air
It has a high density rating
