Bonded Seals
Bonded seals, also called Dowty seals, are mechanical seals used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. They create a reliable and leak-proof connection between two parts. They're often used in hydraulic fittings to prevent leaks at threaded connections. They're also commonly used in automotive applications to seal fluid connections in brake, power steering, and fuel systems. Additionally, they find use in industrial equipment like pumps, valves, and cylinders to prevent fluid leakage and maintain system performance. Bonded seals are preferred in many industries because of their strong construction and excellent sealing abilities, giving assurance of safety, efficiency, and reliability.

The unique construction of bonded seals offers several key features and benefits. Firstly, the metal washer provides stability and strength, ensuring a secure seal under high pressure and temperature conditions. The rubber seal, on the other hand, creates a flexible and resilient barrier against fluid leakage. This combination of rigidity and elasticity makes bonded seals ideal for challenging environments. Additionally, the bonded seal design allows for easy installation and replacement, saving time and effort. With their excellent resistance to chemicals, oils, and extreme temperatures, bonded seals offer long-lasting performance and reliable sealing for hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
These seals consist of three main components: a metal washer, an elastomeric ring, and an adhesive. The metal washer, typically made of steel or stainless steel, provides strength and stability to the seal. The elastomeric ring, usually made of nitrile rubber, provides excellent sealing properties, resistance to a wide range of fluids, and durability. The adhesive is applied between the metal washer and the elastomeric ring, forming a strong bond that prevents leaks and ensures long-lasting performance. The combination of these materials makes bonded seals ideal for high-pressure and dynamic applications, providing effective sealing and protection against fluid leakage.
